A handful of years ago, the Lord blessed me with my dear friend Bri. We met like most people do these days - through the inter-webs. When you look to be working with someone who you will mutually represent each other’s brands, it can be tricky finding a trustworthy fit. Fortunately for us, Bri and I hit it off right off the bat. She even loaned me some equipment — worth an unmentionable amount of money — to which point her sweet hubby said, “You just…GAVE it to her??” (I returned it, don’t worry.) The rest is history.
Fast-forward a few years. After shooting dozens of weddings together, capturing each other’s maternity and newborn photos, Bri asks if I’m down for a trip to Houston to shoot a wedding with her. We’ve talked about doing destination elopements and traveling for weddings, but this was finally coming to life. You better believe I said yes!
We booked flights and were well on our way to shoot for the first time in Texas (!!!). After landing, we hit up a taco shop because if you’re not eating tacos in Texas, have you even lived? We returned to a cute little AirBnB well-fed and giddy to tackle our big day in Houston.
Come game day, our first stop for was to a local breakfast diner. The forecast was rainy, our waitress was warm and inviting, and I had my fill of some delectable French toast.
We pull up to the venue, rain pouring from the sky, and on cloud nine over the cozy cabin-like village complete with the most charming, yet entirely stunning Spanish-style chapel. The original plan was for an outdoor ceremony, but the downpour simply wasn’t going to let up to make it happen. Good thing this chapel was the back-up plan because it was one heck of a backup plan!
There were quite a few hoops to jump through when it came to how we were going to get the shots we wanted, but when you work in tandem with your second brain, things just fall into place. I absolutely loved this day, this place, and working with my best girl.
Stay tuned to where we’re headed next!
