My husband, Brett, and I love to take a trip each year for our anniversary, which usually means we’re headed West somewhere. This past Fall we chose to revisit majestic Lake Tahoe.
It wasn’t until recent years that I wanted to experience photographing couples in the epic destinations that we headed to each year. Being in a totally different landscape than what you’re around daily can inspire some thrilling creativity.
While in Tahoe, one of our favorite things to do is take a sailboat cruise across the lake. I mean, talk about a breathtaking experience. There were several couples out on the vessel with us, all enjoying the scenery and being in their own moment together. Toward the end of the cruise, Brett and I hit it off with another couple visiting from Louisiana. It didn’t take long to discover how much we had in common, but two things near to us both were our little kiddos and a love for Jesus.
We were approaching the dock and I saw an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up by asking these stranger-friends to meet up with us oneee moreee time to take some photos. It’s interesting making a pitch to strangers in a strange place asking them to meet you in the middle of nowhere and just hope that they trust you’re not a complete psycho. I guess Brett and I gave off a decent vibe because they agreed!
We chose the iconic Emerald Bay and ventured off to places around the side of the mountain. We found massive uprooted, dried-out trees, natural basins of water, and spectacular views, not to mention making some amazing friends in the process.
